About Ah! Kimono
Ah! Kimono has been in business since 1991. What started as a venture to obtain a few kimono for personal use quickly blossomed into a fun and exciting business. Owner Cheri Bridges is a weaver and dyer who is constantly amazed by the beauty of these textiles. The variety is so astounding that one seldom sees two identical kimono.

Over the years, Ah! Kimono has had the pleasure of working with a number of designers and magazine editors who have all helped bring attention to the many ways this fabric can enhance the projects of all textile artists.

Recently, we have been collecting textiles from other countries besides Japan and will soon be showcasing them on this site.

Ah! Kimono prides itself in carefully selecting just the right pieces of fabric to meet our customers individual needs and judging from the positive feedback we receive, it is time well spent.

We look forward to helping you with your next project.

Most frequently asked question: "How in the world did you get started in this business?"

My usual reply goes something like this. I am a weaver and dyer who has always been attracted to ethnic textiles. In the '80's and '90's a person could buy 200 lb. bales of used kimono. The very idea of that seemed so amazing, but what would I do with that many kimono I wondered. I really just wanted a few of them to line some hand woven garments. In 1991, I was taking a garment class with a wonderful group of adventurous women. We decided to split a bale of kimono so that we could learn more about the textiles. Well, one thing led to another and before you knew it four of us had banded together to form a little company which we named Ah! Kimono.
